When I was in grade school I lived in this house in Clackamas off SE Cormack Lane. It was down a dead end road that had a huge wall blocking the freeway on the other side. It was a two-story three bedroom house including my parents' room which was the first room off to the left hand corner of the top of the stairs. There were three of us kids at the time: my sister and I who usually shared a room with bunk beds and I think my brother still had a crib.

My sister and I switched between the two other rooms that were upstairs, the middle bedroom and last corner bedroom.
I remember hearing noises

in the last bedroom like a chair rocking by itself, only when I wasn't in there. My step dad used to beat on us kids, me always sticking up for the younger two. I remember one night not being able to sleep. It was hot. I was on the top bunk, and I heard what I thought was my step dad hurrying up the stairs. I thought ''oh what now? Act asleep but watch him. '' The door came open. I thought I saw my step dad walk into the room towards the window. Then the
