We moved here around 14 years ago. Our house is a historical home built by one of the founders of Independence. When we first moved here there were footsteps and the sounds of someone running up and down the upstairs hallway when everyone including all cats were downstairs. I spoke with one of the former tenants who said she often heard footsteps walking or running in the upstairs hallway.

When I was living in this town I had met a girl and stayed over one night, she was telling me about how there was a ghost living in her place, she said the cabinets would open and the faucet would turn on by themselves from time to time. I kind of though she was crazy because I never have saw this happen. She kept me interested to keep coming back for more visits hoping I could see the supernatural happen right in front of me. Well no such luck the only thing I felt was bitter cold not only in that house most of the town.

Till one night I remember very clearly, I had fallen asleep and to my waking surprise I was being choked by a spirit or demon, not sure what it was, all I can remember is very bright white night gown, she was very pretty with reds, purples, and blue coloring. Her eyes where big and her hair had curls, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen until her eyes turned into evil and her face was so angry. As she was choking me I couldn't breath for almost two minutes, I jumped out of bed so fast gasping for air and still trying to find evidence of this visit I had but she was gone into thin air.
Still to this day I will never return to this town knowing whoever or whatever spirit really doesn't like my presence at all. .
