There are quite a few older homes in Joseph Oregon that are believed to have something ''wrong with them''.. I lived in one for four months and recently a friend reported she was experiencing shadows, noises, and strong feelings of being watched by something dark. Being a small tourist town I am having difficulty researching this history; people are afraid that this type of publicity would be negative. Does anyone have any info?. Submitted by Geri

Comment by Elizabeth: Geri, thank you for putting us on the map. Yes, this place is haunted, but I believe it is the land. I too have had difficulty finding anything on our little town. That said I have experienced more paranormal activity here than I have anywhere else and have subsequently met more sensitive people than ever before as well. I think we would be short sighted to overlook the huge sorrow that is embedded in the history of the Nez Perce and their unjust removal from their beloved home land. That amount of energy alone will stain a landscape. Even one so beautiful as this.
If there is anyone who could shed a broader light on this area, please speak out. The experiences I had in my home last summer changed my life and the life of my son. I believed, but never in life expected to go head to head in order to maintain my sanity and my home. Every quiet day is a blessing. The struggle is real.

Comment by Ash: I would check out the county museum. It may have some answers.
Comment by Whitney: Upon arrival to the Wallowas, my husband and I both felt an eerie vibe. It felt a bit sad spooky and slightly uninviting. The first night of our stay at the Wallowa Lake Resort (10/03/2021). I experienced several auditory hallucinations and felt a presence in the cabin that wanted to ''prank'' me ,and I felt watched sometimes. That same night my dog yelped randomly.
The next evening my dog was exhibiting stroke-like symptoms, so we rushed her to the nearest vet clinic in Enterprise. The vet found that a tumor ruptured her spleen, and she was bleeding internally. We had to euthanize her as there was no other ethical or safe option for her. No doubt that the devastating history of the first Americans that were forced out of their sacred land has yielded dark energy in this place. If anyone else has experienced something sad or creepy in this area, feel free to email me whnutritionconsult @ gmail. com.
