This one day before tossing it I opened it. There was a dime in the center with a straight pin through it to hold it to the cushion inside. It was dated the year my husband and I met! He was not a sentimental or a really romantic guy so...
To me this was the ultimate dime. After that we found no more dimes.

I am an older woman and had traveled back and forth from Salinas California to Madras Oregon on highway 97 for the last 30 years. In the summer of 1996 I was traveling alone which I hardly ever did but needed to be back in California for personal business.

I generally only stop in busy gas stations but I thought I could make it to Klamath Falls which was another 15 miles and I was wrong. I was on a two-lane highway gas monitor right on ''e. '' and it was dusk.
Not a good place to run out of gas. I remembered there was an older gas station but it was close to 8 pm it's chances of being open were slim. I came around the bend where the station was located and noticed no cars at all no lights just desolated and had old style meter numbers on the pumps.
I got out of my car walked around the front. The windows were covered with old ad signs partially ripped from the wind small cracked on the window where the garage appeared welded. I was worried and called out ''hello? No response.
