I walked around the back almost in tears and suddenly I heard a sliding window open. There was an older man smiling at me and apologized for not hearing me. I apologized to him explaining in a rapid voice I'm out of gas I hate to bother you please I'll pay extra...
He said with a smile in his eyes sure, give me a second he turned on the pump from inside and came out. He stood close to 5 ft 8 inches dressed in an old mechanic jumpsuit. He asked me about

my trip and noticed I was alone and he mentioned how unsafe it was.
I smiled and agreed with him yet grateful of his kindness. I paid and thanked

him repeatedly. As I left I realized no other cars had pulled in. A few days later returning to Oregon I made it a point to stop at the gas station and say hello to the man that helped me.
It was midday I was with someone else I had explained to my passenger about the kindness of the man and as I pulled over to the gas station it was closed. I looked around and you can tell the place had been closed for years...
In fact there were Weeds around the
