Yes, it was February 11th, 1983. I was 6 years old. It was a Friday. We lived on Washington Street a few blocks away. My friends and I went to Candy Cane Park after school, and we played until after dark, but of course it wasn't that late really, but if you're familiar with La Grande, you know it sits behind the mountains and gets dark early.
Anyway I remember my older sister came to fetch me home. Of course, I wasn't ready. She let me mess around a

bit longer. The last place I remember playing was on the swing set. Soon I was forced to go, pouting the whole walk home. I remember thinking that I was

going to go back to the park tomorrow. The next day was a shock to my young brain as I learned that a woman had been murdered there the night before or possibly early morning, possibly decapitated found sitting cross legged with her head in her lap. I don't know if that is all true.
However, I never went back and have had strange thoughts before and through the years. Years later my sister moved in to an apartment right across the street, and
