I was staying at a downtown hotel last weekend when I saw my first ghost. I thought it was a dream at first but after laying there awake for several minutes blinking many times and upon waking the next morning her image is still perfectly etched in my mind forever.
It was our third night in this historic hotel. I awoke because of a loud bang. At the end of my bed was a middle aged woman dressed in a satin dressing gown tied at the waste. She just stood there looking at me and seemed to have a sad expression on her face.

I tried to wake up my husband but did not want to make too loud of a noise. I whispered loudly honey, there's someone in our room. His moan told me he was not interested in my nonsense. I continued to lie there looking at her while she looked at me.

I could see her clearly yet could also see the door through her. Then suddenly but slowly she walked silently and gently toward the bathroom door and disappeared. I lay there awake for a few more minutes and told myself it must not be true I don't believe in ghosts! The next morning the first thing I did when I woke up was to look where she had been standing then I checked the bathroom.
I did not see any evidence of her. I told my husband what happened. For some reason I felt more sad for her than scared. I still wonder who she is and why she was there. I since have read this hotel used to be a hospital for tuberculosis patients.
Maybe this is why her chest was exposed and she looked so sad.
