My father and I live in Prineville Oregon and have in the last year gotten into gold panning. We enjoy going to the Howard district, a ghost town twenty-eight miles northeast of Prineville. This was an old gold mining town with many exciting things and places to explore. One area with a lot of past mining activity is Judy Creek. We spend a lot of time there panning for gold and have experienced a few odd things.
One time we were there, we were checking out

the area when we separated by about 100 feet. I was on the creek; he was on the road reading an old claim note. While he was on the road he yelled ''what's

that'' I said ''I didn't say anything'', and I went along checking out the area. I leaned down to look at the creek bed when I heard what sounded like a woman scream (and not just an innocent scream, more like a blood curling one). And it really spooked me; I ran back up the bank where my father was and said ''did you hear that?'' He did not. I asked him why he kept asking me what I was saying, and told him I had not said anything while I was on the
