A couple months ago, a friend and I traveled past the bridge towards Gardiner. We took a left, and headed down the trail. As we traveled farther, the forest rapidly became dense as if the hikers before had turned abruptly around and left like something was deterring them. We kept going, but I then became uneasy in my gut and had an overwhelming feeling of sadness, almost as if I were about to cry. I ignored my own feeling as best as I could. My friend,

on the other hand, did not seem to have a problem. As we hiked, the trees coming into view were mostly dead and made an unsettling creaking noise. There

was a stench that got worse. We then discovered a carcass that was followed by some more bones and two more decomposing carcasses. We kept going, and then I heard something. I told my friend to stop talking, and we heard it again. It sounded as if someone was in distress. A few times I called out ''Hello. Are you okay?'' No one answered. My friend said he did not hear anything.
We kept going in hope of finding somebody, but we did not. I shrugged
