This little story happened near the early 1980s. As many of you know, a lot of people keep livestock and horses around Weston, Oregon. I had a babysitter who had a horse. She loved to ride and took me and my siblings to ride. Normally this was a very gentle, well-behaved equine that is used to rambunctious children running around it. My sitter would often take us for rides one by one with her through the cemetery (the newer one up the road out of Weston,

Well, one day, near dusk but the gates were still open. Since it wasn't quite closing time, my sitter and

I decided to take a ride on her horse through that same graveyard, and for some unknown reason (it was a calm summer evening with no one else around) the horse just panicked and bolted. It raced through the cemetery, weaving around the headstones at a breakneck pace as though being chased by the Devil himself. I remember holding onto my sitter's waist and screaming for her to stop her horse, ''stop! Stop!'' I was in tears. I felt myself sliding close
