In 2003 my friend and I camped a couple of nights in Yachats during the spring. She brought her then 3 year old son with her but he was in bed by nine. We stayed up talking until about 11:30. A little while before we turned in we heard an ungodly scream in the distance.
She turned to me and said what the hell was that? I lied and said it was probably some type of owl because I didn't want the fear to get out of control. Except for one other individual

we were the only ones at that campground and maybe it was an owl but I had never heard anything like that before and I've done my share of camping.

went into the tent and as I finished zipping up the door it began to rain. It rained all night. Sometime during the night I woke up because I heard steady deliberate sounding footsteps going around our tent.
We had camped up against a raspberry bramble so there was no way some large animal or person could've circled our tent without getting tangled in it and making a big commotion. It was pitch black outside and I couldn't see anything but I wasn't
