I remember as a child I was horrified of the staircase in our home. The top would seem to spiral forever into the void of nothingness. There was only a small light in the hallway upstairs and no windows in the staircase, so it was always dim and creaky. The main problem was my room was upstairs. I'd always sprint up the stairs. I was always feeling a sense of uneasiness as if something was present lurking watching me.

top, I'd feel fine, but during it I'd always have a deep sinking feeling of impending inevitable dread. One day I think I found out why. I had injured
|
my foot in PE class, and as such that day I could do my usual sprint up the stairs. So slowly and carefully I creaked up the stairs as fast as I could until suddenly I felt breathing on my neck. I stopped. Suddenly the breathing stopped, but I stood still having the dark feeling as if two eyes continued to state at me.
