think were from patients who had unsupervised abortions. The building was later used to house tribal administration office and the chief leschi tribal school there are numerous stories of hearing and seeing things in the building like ghosts and apparitions.
The whole building was demolished it was deemed unsafe to with stand a earthquake. What stands there now is the new medical clinic and casino.

I live in the Vernon arms apartments for about three years when I first moved in I didn't feel anything strange or have anything out of the ordinary happen until 1992 . I had a little closet under my stairs the door was about 4 feet but you could open the door stoop down and you then pass through into a room that was about 4 by 5 feet and high enough to stand in.

Then it had an open space under where the stairs were so I tucked some boxes there to utilized that space. So one day I was pushing boxes toward the back leaning down under the stairs on my hands and knees and I noticed a wooden sign low on the wall.
It was like an oriental fan with asian writing on it. The top half was asian then had English under it saying ''this was told to me when I was a child'' then it goes back to asian writing. I was working as a case manager who visited at the east side community center off Portland ave and knew some asian workers there.
I got my camera and took a picture. I forgot it a couple of times but finally got to speak with a worker who operated the asian free meal program he looked at my picture and said it was Cambodian writing and took me to the Cambodian case worker.
